Hadrian's Wall Accommodation Guide
Hadrian's Wall is situated in the midst of a remote landscape with wonderful rugged countryside everywhere. The walk is 81 miles long from Wallsend near Newcastle Upon Tyne to the Solway Firth beyond Carlisle and can easily be covered in a week, perfect for experienced long distance walkers and enthusiatic beginners alike. The walk is usually recommended to be tackled from east to west against the prevailing wind but either way will do. The newest of England's National Trails, only officially opened in 2003 the walk is now one of the most popular so while accommodation is well represented on the walk it is best to book ahead. The walk is, as one would imagine, full of history although on some sections you may wonder where the wall went. For the answer just look at the buildings around. They were most likely built from the stone off Hadrian's Wall.
