Walking Englishman - why feature advertising?

Welcome to the Walking Englishman. The website is here to support my fervent passion for walking in the British countryside. I have been very fortunate to walk in many wonderful places, either in private or in super company and doing so makes me want to walk in more and more great places and to enjoy more fresh sights found in new explorations of our wonderful countryside. To fulfil my goals while I still have the fitness to do so I have decided to take the step to leave work and concentrate 100% in continuing to provide a free internet resource for walking on this site. I plan to walk in more areas and feature many more walks for all grades of walker. To do this I need the site to support my costs in in providing quality free walks throughout Great Britain.

Mike Brockhurst, January 2011

Why should you advertise here?
A good question but one I can answer with conviction. I believe the Walking Englishman provides quality walks with quality reports which is backed up by the numerous letters, emails and Guestbook entries made by readers of the website over the last few years. Nearly all are full of praise for my work which while generous and humbling is also encouraging. The support from people in putting in the time to submit Guestbook entries to me is just one example I can use. The second are the statistics from my Matrix Stats and Google Analytics reports which show the site receiving uo to 4 million hits per month in the walking season. Finally, Google AdSense has derived appreciable income sice introduced in October 2010. Note that I plan to replace AdSense locations with your ads in future!

Furthermore please note that my coverage is mainly confined to the north of England but I now plan to widen coverage to the whole of Great Britian over the next two years. I have set myself the ambitious target of a million hits a day by the end of 2012, a bold undertaking but one I intend to put 100% into achieving. To assist me reach my goal I will draw on the support of guest contributors, some who have already provided excellent walks on tthe Walking Englishman.
