The route joins together two of England's finest Priories, at St Osyth and Colchester. Placemarks on the route which show on Ordnance Survey 1:25,000 Explorer mapping, in order of walking are St Osyth Stone Point, St Osyth Creek, St Osyth Abbey, Wellwick Farm, Riddles Wood, South Heath, Eastmarsh Point, Brightlingsea, Alresford Creek, River Colne, Alresford Grange, Wivenhoe and Colchester.
