The Walk: After the tough walks done on the Menaggio side of Lake Como it was a pleasant change to do this little lovely walk around the streets of Bellagio. The small beautiful town sits in the envious position on the intersection of the Lake's Como and Lecco channels. It is an exquisite place and the perfect spot for Lil and I to visit on our 4th wedding anniversary. After arriving at the boat marina from our crossing we had a drink in a shoreline cafe before starting our little walk by travelling north along Piazza Giuseppi Mazzini to Via Roma. Not wanting to drag Lil away from the local craft shops this short start to the walk took some considerable time.

At the beginning of Via Roma a little climbing was necessary to reach Via Enrico Vitali a dead end road that we would have to track back along later. However we took it to reach the headland at Punto Spartivento where the lake cuts into its western Lake Como and eastern Lake Lecco parts. The visit was worthwhile for the place was very special indeed. Lil and I had a laugh as well as we watched young ducks trying to keep up with mum in the water and when one got isolated it did not half panic. When it worked out where mum and siblings had gone it paddled to them so fast that it seemed it was running on top of the water. A really funny moment and happily all ended well with the reuniting.

After walking back along Via Enrico Vitali we headed into the heart of the uptown to the main church and then along Via Guiseppi Garibaldi. The street narrows on this part of the walk and we had to duck into shops and sidewalks when cars and local produce vans made there slow way through the heart of the area. Safely through the narrow part to a wider area we then came across a lovely small church and another that had been converted into residence before walking into the park. The park was beautiful and the views from it across the lake were special indeed.

After strolling through the park on this special day we headed back down onto Lungo Lario Manzoni which led us back to Piazza Giuseppi Mazzini and to a cafe where we had a welcome lunch. There are a number of walking options in Bellagio and some take longer excursions beyond the town. This was Lil's day though and this short walk was a wonderful short easy journey through a lovely place, just right for our anniversary. She loved it and so did I.
