Summary
This route is one of the options of the Rotary Club of Harrogate’s annual Nidderdale walks.
For a long-distance, challenging route, this is an ideal choice. From Pateley Bridge, the walk takes the same path as the 15-mile walk via Wath, Bouthwaite, Ramsgill, and Lofthouse, where there is a checkpoint and refreshments. Turning left in Lofthouse, the route proceeds on the west side of the River Nidd up past Thwaite House and Summerstone Lodge to the Scar House Reservoir dam (where 22-mile walkers cross the dam while 26-milers walk around the reservoir). The route returns over In Moor to Middlesmoor, re-enters Lofthouse, continues down the east side of the river to Bouthwaite, and retraces the outward path back to Pateley Bridge.
