Summary
The Sirhowy Valley Walk, also referred to as the Sirhowy Valley Ridgeway Walk, is a challenging route from the built-up fringes of Newport to the mountain ridges of Mynydd Machen and Mynydd Manmoel. It passes lowland and upland farms, woodlands and riverside parks, and many sites of historical interest, including an Iron Age hill fort, an old mill, and a canal centre, before finishing near Tredegar.
The walk links with the waymarked Ebbw Valley Walk (16 miles from Wattsville to Ebbw Vale, shown on OS mapping) near Cwm. The circular waymarked Raven Walk (12 miles, included on OS mapping) uses parts of the Sirhowy Valley Walk near Ynysddu.
