Summary
St Peter’s Way is a long-distance footpath across the open agricultural land of Essex, passing Hanningfield Reservoir and inlets of the Blackwater Estuary. It reaches the coast east of Tillingham, then follows the sea wall, offering extensive views across the Essex marshes.
From the start in Chipping Ongar, St Peter’s Way visits High Ongar, Blackmore, Mill Green, Margaretting, Stock, West Hanningfield, East Hanningfield, Bicknacre, Purleigh, Mundon, Maylandsea, Mayland, Steeple, and Tillingham before reaching the east coast and following it northwards to finish at the Chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall / Othona Roman Fort.
